1. About the World Publications Awards

The World Publications Awards (“WPA”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is an online global awards initiative and crowdfunding platform allowing readers to financially support their favourite publications and journalists through paid voting.

The 2026 awards cycle runs from 1 April 2026 until 31 August 2026. There is no physical awards ceremony. Winners will receive a trophy delivered to their provided address.

2. Eligibility

2.1 Voters
  • Must be at least 18 years old or the legal age in their jurisdiction.
  • Must provide valid payment details.
  • No account creation is required to vote.
2.2 Nominees
  • Nominees are selected solely by WPA management.
  • Publications or individuals may appear in more than one category.
  • Nominees may be individuals or organizations.
  • Nominees must provide accurate payout details to receive funds.
  • Nominees will receive their accumulated funds at the end of the voting cycle.

WPA reserves the right to remove or disqualify nominees at its discretion.

3. Categories

The 2026 Awards include categories such as:

  • Journalist of the Year
  • Web First Publication of the Year
  • Sports Publication of the Year
  • Business Publication of the Year
  • Technology Publication of the Year
  • Editor of the Year
  • News Network of the Year
  • Magazine of the Year
  • Newspaper of the Year

4. Voting & Payments

4.1 Cost of Vote

Each vote costs USD $3.00, regardless of voter location, category, or nominee.

4.2 Revenue Distribution
  • $1.50 is allocated to the selected nominee (crowdfunding support).
  • The remaining portion is retained by WPA for operational costs, payment processing fees, taxes, and business expenses.
4.3 Payment Processing

Payments are processed via third-party providers (e.g., PayPal or others). WPA is not responsible for payment gateway downtime, card declines, or international transaction restrictions.

4.4 Refund Policy

All votes are final and non-refundable, except where required by applicable law.

5. Crowdfunding Nature of Votes

  • $1.50 of each vote is financial support to the selected nominee.
  • This support is not a charitable donation.
  • Voting does not create ownership, equity, or contractual rights in the nominee.

Nominees receive their total accumulated funds at the conclusion of the voting period, subject to verification and compliance checks.

6. Determination of Winners

  • Winners are determined strictly by the highest number of paid votes at the close of voting on 31 August 2026.
  • Public vote numbers are displayed on the “Numbers” page.
  • WPA reserves the right to audit or invalidate fraudulent or suspicious votes.
  • All decisions by WPA are final.

7. Awards & Delivery

  • Winners receive a trophy and/or certificate only.
  • No cash prize is awarded.
  • Awards will be shipped to the provided address.
  • WPA is not liable for customs delays, import taxes, shipping damage, or lost deliveries.

8. Public Display of Information

The Platform publicly displays nominee names, country representation, profiles, percentage rankings, and total vote numbers. By participating, nominees consent to this public display.

9. Intellectual Property

All website content, branding, design, logos, and materials are owned by World Publications Awards. Nominees retain ownership of their trademarks and logos but grant WPA a non-exclusive, worldwide right to display their name and logo for promotional purposes related to the Awards.

10. Prohibited Conduct

  • Manipulating voting systems
  • Using bots or automated voting
  • Attempting fraud or chargebacks
  • Interfering with platform operations

Fraudulent votes may be invalidated without refund.

11. No Affiliation Disclaimer

Nomination does not imply endorsement, partnership, or affiliation between WPA and any nominee unless explicitly stated.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, WPA is not liable for technical errors, payment failures, data loss, indirect damages, or reputational claims arising from rankings. Use of the Platform is at your own risk.

13. Taxation

Nominees are solely responsible for declaring income received from votes and paying applicable taxes in their jurisdiction. WPA does not provide tax advice.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Australia. Any disputes shall be resolved in Australian courts.

15. Amendments

WPA may update these Terms at any time. Updated versions will be posted on the Platform with a revised effective date. Continued use constitutes acceptance of modifications.
